Are you looking for a short walk in Auckland? Are you running low on options due to track closures in the Waitakere and Hunua Ranges due to the spread of Kauri dieback disease? Look no further, make your way to Long Bay Regional Park and take a stroll on their 6 km Coastal Track.
Despite my love for exploration, this is only my second time at Long Bay Regional Park. Know for being a popular summer spot for picnics, BBQ, and chilling by the beach, I was unaware that it is home to the charming Coastal Track that is loved by locals.
The track starts at the northern end of the park and along the way, you will cross Granny’s and Pohutukawa Bay as well as some high areas where you can get a beautiful panoramic view of the Hauraki Gulf. This trail is shared between walkers and mountain bikers, so be wary of other people using the track.
At the end of the one-way track, you can opt to walk back the same way. Alternatively, you can walk back along the beach at low tide.
Note: Be aware of nudist at Pohutukawa Bay!
