Spanning over 32 km one way, Routeburn is one of the Great Walk tracks in New Zealand and links Mount Aspiring and Fiordland National Parks in the South West New Zealand World Heritage area. Taking in a spectacular view of the Southern Alps, the track takes you through splendid landmarks like Routeburn Falls, Lake Harris, Lake MacKenzie, Earland Falls
Only a short trip from Queenstown Airport, we started our hike at Routeburn Shelter which is about 70km from Queenstown CBD. The photo opportunities were endless as we were greeted by phenomenal landscape.
We endured months of training in order to get ourselves ready for our multiway hike on the Routeburn Track and when it finally ended, the feeling was rather surreal. The rewarding moments of accomplishment and the satisfaction that overwhelms when you realised that you’ve done it is addictive. Without a doubt, hiking has slowly creeped up on my list of favourite things!
Beautiful pictures!! One of the pictures reminds me of Tasmania’s Lake St Claire.
