This was one of the first hikes my friends and I did as a group. Taking on this new hobby has been great for us and we have been doing outdoor activities at least every other weekend. Te Henga Walkway is part of the Hillary Trail which connects a network of tracks in the Waitakere Rangers and expands over 76KM. From Bethells Beach to south of Muriwai Beach, the Te Henga Walkway can take around 4 hours. The day before our hike, Auckland experienced quite a bit of rain so by the time we hiked, the track was slippery and rather muddy, especially around the coastal cliff
Although the steep climb was hard, the views from the top was worth the pain. With stunning coastal view and hardly any other hikers, we stopped at the top to enjoy a cold beer and just soaked in our surroundings. The hardest part of the trek would have to be at the end where you have to climb endless number of steps just to reach the carpark.
