A couple of weekends ago I travelled to Hunter Valley in New South Wales to have a relaxing girls weekend with a close friend who has relocated to Australia. Only a quick two-hour drive from Sydney, Hunter Valley is well-known for their award-winning wineries and luxurious resorts, it is a major tourist destination in New South Wales.
In attempts to combine my love for wine with fitness, we decided to explore the vineyard on Palmers Lane by bike. Situated inside their own vineyard, we hired our bikes from Grapemobile which is within easy cycling distance to a host of boutique wineries including Moorebank, Pokolbin Brothers Wines, Calais and Gemelli Estate. Our bike ride was approximately 6.5kms and can take more than half a day depending on how long you stay at each winery and whether you stop for lunch.
Majority of the terrain along Palmers Lane is flat, making it a relatively easy ride. We spotted over a dozen kangaroos along the ride and stopped along the way to take some photos.
