Bitten by the Travel Bug

I was having a quiet drink with my friend the other night and like all quiet drinks, we were discussing about life, goals, family and everything in between. As the topic of travel began, he asked me about my thoughts on travelling. I’m an avid traveller and to me, travelling enriches my life like nothing else. As some people say, I believe that spending money on travel is one of those things that make you richer in the end.

Travelling to a new location and seeing it with your very own eyes, especially ones that you have been day dreaming about can leave you speechless. I remember the first time I laid eyes on the Last Judgement in Vatican and I stood there in awe and a flutter of electricity ran through by body. Or the time where we witness the sun rise at Angkor Wat and how the dark ruins came to life as the sky got brighter. That feeling and sense of fulfilment is so overwhelming that it had become addictive.

That was when I decided that every year, I will travel to at least one new city. So I can broaden my horizon, meet new friends, dive into new culinary experiences and open my eyes to a much bigger world. Expand our awareness and introduce ourselves to greater diversity. Travel is an investment that we make in ourselves.

Plan for your next trip. Because as Mark Twain once wrote “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”
