My Dining Wishlist: Melbourne

The dining heaven that is Melbourne, Australia.

A few friends and I will be visiting at the beginning of February, so I have complied a small list of restaurants that we plan/wish to go during our stay.

Degustation at Attica | Attica is a MUST for all foodies visiting Melbourne. With numerous awards up their sleeves including The Age Good Food Guide 2014 Chef of the Year, Best Restaurant in Victoria as well as taking the rank of Number 21 in S. Pellegrino World’s 50 Restaurant in 2013, Head Chef Ben Shewry can seriously do no wrong. And the best thing about him? He’s kiwi, born and raised in North Taranaki. Seating is limited so reservations are crucial. This can be done up to three months in advance. I’m drooling already!

Steak at Rockpool Bar and Grill | My love for steak is common knowledge amongst my friends, so I did some research and was told that Rockpool Melbourne was the place to go. The Rockpool Group is one of Australia’s most awarded restaurant group with eateries in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth. I look forward to trying their steak tartare with hand cut chips.

Dumplings in Chinatown |  Upon my friend’s special request, we will be sure to make our way to Chinatown for an affordable dumpling feast. With restaurants such as Shanghai Dumplings and Hutong the choices are endless. Hopefully we can devour some (maybe a few dozens) spectacular xiao long bao.

Korean BBQ at ChangGo | A friend has recently moved back to Melbourne and her recommendation of ChangGo and their Pork Belly Eight Ways convinced me that we needed to add this to our dining wish list. Although I’m not the biggest advocate for Korean BBQ due to the smell that lingers on your clothes and hair, we are planning to risk the stench to try their signature pork!

I would love to experience the cafe culture in Melbourne. Any good recommendations?
