We started our day of sightseeing at the Lost Chambers Aquarium, a recreation of the lost city of Atlantis inside Atlantis the Palm. This fantastic labyrinth of underwater passageways, halls, display and fish tank has over 65,000 marine creatures in 20 aquariums and holds over 11 million litres of sea water. They host eight guided Behind the Scenes Tour everyday and we decided to take part in the Moray Eels tour where we got to explore and learn more about the elaborate water filtration system, visit the nursery and fish hospital and personally fed the moray eels.
We then caught a cab and made our way to Sheikh Zayed Road to do some shopping at the grand Dubai Mall as well as visit the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa to enjoy the view. I really enjoyed shopping at the Dubai Mall which is the world’s largest shopping centre. In the centre of the mall, there is a three storey aquarium, the largest indoor gold souk and an underwater zoo. It has over 1200 stores including an area called LEVEL shoe district that offers an extensive selection of designer shoes including Christian Louboutin, Giuseppe Zanotti and Stuart Weitzman.
We took a trip up to the observation desk (At The Top) at Burj Khalifa where we admired the panoramic view from the 124th floor. It is a very impressive cityscape.
We finished our night with a luscious dinner at Zuma, currently ranked #87 in the World’s Best Restaurant and winner in Japanese Cuisine in 2013’s Time Out Dubai Restaurant Awards.
I’ve written a separate review of Zuma on my dining blog, so please feel free to check it out.
