Day One: Barcelona, Spain

after spending more than 30 hours on the plane and in transit, we finally touched down in Barcelona.  overwhelmed by the sudden change in weather and the intense heat, we changed into our summer clothes when we checked in at Nuria’s and took a stroll down avenue de Gaudi.

Our next destination just so happens to be right next to our accommodation, the stunning Sagrada Familia, one of Gaudi’s finest creations! It’s difficult to find words to describe such amazing architecture but it was breathtaking. Our tickets included going up a tower, providing an excellent opportunity to take some shots of Barcelona. (note: if you plan to visit, make sure you plan ahead and get tickets online to avoid long cues in the sun!)

We finished our first day in Barcelona with tapas and a jug of sangria at Tapas Gaudi.

Successful first day! I’m loving Barcelona.
