review and photos: urbis design day.

my first time attending the annual urbis design day that takes place in auckland with installation stops at ponsonby, the cloud, parnell, and mount eden. i have to admit, i over-hyped myself in terms of expectation so i was slightly disappointed. the main problem was the lack of sufficient free shuttles that was suppose to take us between installations and at one of our stops, we waited for over forty minutes!

however, i had a good time and there were many excellent photo opportunities. my favourite installation was the fisher and paykel + alt group located at the cloud where we sipped on wine while waiting in line to eat freshly shucked bluff oyster, seared sirloin steak, shaved ice with your choice of syrup (i chose sour cherry) and melted verona chocolate with orange cookie.

the best outcome for the day was discovering the two story boconcept at mt eden where my eyes were treated to a selection of beautiful furniture, painting, lights and sound system. the second level house world beauty store, a lovely little cafe, as well as a store that sells pretty stationary (i’m a sucker for pretty notebooks). and of course, i love the fact that we were offered nibbles and wine at almost every stop. this kept us going throughout the day!
